Employment - Sales Engineer


KEY ROLE:  NexGen Networks Sales Engineers are expected to assist in generating new business and ensure growth of existing accounts. Sales Engineers assess potential application of company products or services and offers solutions that meet customer needs.


  • Assume role of telecommunications and data technical contact for Account Executives, Base Client Representatives, and Sales Management
  • Utilize interpersonal skills to interact with and influence decision-makers and quickly establish rapport
  • Assist sales personnel in listening to and evaluating the needs of potential clients and identifying solutions
  • Act as a liaison between Sales, Marketing, and Engineering to achieve common goals
  • Assist sales personnel in the preparation, delivery and review of sales proposals and RFP/RFQ responses with prospects and clients
  • Assist sales personnel in closing sales by overcoming obstacles, gaining commitment from the client and accurately setting realistic installation expectations
  • Engage equipment vendors and integrators to ensure quality control of projects and that project timeframes are met
  • Develop strong working relationships with Field Operations and external vendors in the market(s) supported
  • Maintain an ongoing knowledge of NexGen Network’s product suite as well as competing company’s products and technologies
  • Complete technical configuration paperwork and maintain records and databases for complex services/projects within the stated interval
  • Ability to reinforce NexGen Network’s solutions with confidence and discuss features/advantages/benefits of NexGen Network’s solutions with clients and integrators
  • Provide technical training to the Sales Organization

  • Engineering Degree or 5-7 years of equivalent telecommunications experience
  • •3-5 years of Sales Engineering experience, including experience with both voice and data services
  • Must have working knowledge of Networking technologies: IP, VPN, MPLS, TDM, Ethernet, DWDM and Dark Fiber services
  • Must have a proven track record of building and executing sales strategies to penetrate, close, and manage business in accounts
  • PC Literacy, Knowledge of Windows 2007 environment, Map Info, LATTIS Visio, ability to quickly learn application software skills
  • Associates/Bachelors degree preferred
