NexGen Networks Develops UK Presence Lo4 Datacenter London

NexGen Networks, the premier provider of fiber optic-based network solutions to the world’s top financial services firms and global enterprises, has announced the acquisition of data center space at the Savvis LO4 facility in London’s Docklands financial district. The new NexGen infrastructure offers clients strategic proximity to key financial trading and foreign exchange platforms.

“The Savvis LO4 data center expands our London presence by providing low-latency connectivity at the doorstep of London’s second largest financial district,” says NexGen’s Edward Lawson. “This move represents our commitment to providing customers with access to critical infrastructure in the key financial and commercial centers of the world.”

The London Docklands business district where the LO4 data center is located employs over 100,000 people and houses the world or European headquarters of numerous major banks, professional services firms and media organizations. Furthermore, London is the foreign exchange market’s global trading center accounting for nearly 40% of FX trading volume, as well as being one of the world’s largest financial hubs altogether.

Savvis’ London data centers host Thomson Reuters’ Athena Trading EMS and provide access points to interdealer broker Icap’s EBS FX platform. These access points are subsequently connected to matching engines in their New Jersey-based data centers, creating optimal conditions for London-based high-frequency trading in the foreign exchange markets, with London and New York combining to account for over 60% of foreign exchange trading volume.
