NexGen Networks Officially Circumnavigates Earth with Its Fiber Backbone
Continuous acquisition of network capacity reaches a truly worldwide milestone
NexGen Networks, a leading global provider of ultra high-speed fiber-optic services with a distinctive customer service approach, has reinforced its global reach with recent fiber backbone acquisitions that have established a proprietary path around the world. The recent addition of capacity on the Transit Europe-Asia (TEA) terrestrial cable network completes a global circuit that enables NexGen to route traffic anywhere in the world, moving eastward or westward as needs dictate.
“In addition to being an incredible symbolic milestone, this achievement has significant practical implications,” says NexGen’s Edward Lawson, SVP of Business Development “It enhances our ability to meet specific routing requirements based on speed, diversity and numerous other factors for existing and potential clients.”
In recent years, NexGen has worked to actively improve and upgrade its network and allow clients around the world to find optimized, tailored network solutions that boast the highest possible diversity and availability. The NexGen network encompassment of the globe means that customers can choose from multiple paths to Europe and Asia at their discretion in order to circumvent any failure due to cable cuts or other damage from accidents or natural disaster.
The cable acquisition that completed the traversal was capacity on the TEA cable network, the world’s longest overland route, traveling from Frankfurt to Turkey, tracing the ancient Silk Route through central Asia into Western China and onto Shanghai. That route provides clients with the lowest possible latency connections between Asia and Europe, with latency times of 164ms between London and Hong Kong.
